Cabrinha team riders and master coaches Christian and Karine have been ambassadors of the sport since the early days. The experienced team and rescue team ensure safe and perfect kiteboarding conditions. During the cold winter months in the northern hemisphere, the South African summer offers 95% wind reliability and long sunshine filled days. Once you're done here, this kitespot is a perfect starting point for the 7km downwinder back to the Kalpitiya lagoon.

Contact us to help plan your exotic kitesurfing holiday to one of these great destinations Malbeot Iptime wrote in a blog post 2018. The kiteboarding scene is huge in Germany, but I didn't realize they had so many great spots. If you have a non-kitesurfing partner, don't worry - there will be plenty of unmissable sights for them and paradise beaches to enjoy.

The teeny tiny island sits bang in the middle of the waters north of Kalpitiya- and man oh man, is it ever stunning. So many water sport enthusiasts have found new joy in the company of the sun, wind, and waves. Often misconception is, that we are located at Kalpitiya lagoon - we are NOT.

The best wind season runs from November until April, during which time you'll also be treated to blue skies, warm weather, and very little rain. To get there you have to arrange a boat trip with a kitesurfing school. Take a bumpy boat ride from Kalpitiya to Vella Island where you'll be able to set up and launch your kites.

Around Kalpitiya there are many perfect spots to do kite trips and downwinds. Waist-deep water makes this a superb beginners' spot - at low tide, you can kitesurf far from the shore and still stand up. Conditions are similar to Kalpitiya Lagoon but it's a fraction of the size, and can only hold up to 15 kiters… which is why I prefer this spot.

In Sri Lanka we have 2 seasons of kite. This spot is perfect for beginners because it has side shore winds. The same happens in Arugambay, very well known as a surfing spot, where sometimes good wind, but the direction of the wind and the characteristics of the place makes a complicated spot for the practice of kitesurfing.

If you get bored of flat lagoon, you also have the ocean to play with. Kalpitiya not only the best sight for kitesurfing in Sri Lanka, but it is also recognized as the most-visited destination around the world for learning to kitesurf. Kalpitiya is also one of the best areas of Sri Lanka for diving during the months from November to April.
