Year-round average air temperature is 28C (82F), water temperature is 26C (79F). Both seasons are very sunny and with the changing of wind direction offer different spots making it a different riding place each time. Vella Island is a very small island that on one side has sea and on the other side is the flat water of the lagoon. Originally from Breton, I spent a lot of time splashing around in the water for a number of reasons but it was only at 20 that I started to move towards kite surf.

Wind Blend Kite Resort is offering accommodations in Kalpitiya. In the last ten years, it's gained a name as the kite surfing and windsurfing capital of Vietnam. We are right at the beach on the sandbank between the Indian ocean and the famous Kappalady flatwater lagoon near Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka.

Now it's been 4 years since I live in Kalpitiya and that´s because it´s a great spot for kitesurfing. There are several beaches where international pros kite surf (you can watch to pick one or two skills) but the best spot for beginners and learners at the Cabarete is the officially named Kite beach.

The flat water and shallow depth of the lagoon is great for beginners, especially when it comes to that tricky stage of learning how to ride the board for the very first time. Apart from the main Sri Lanka kitesurfing spots we've listed above, you can also chance scoring a session at some of the country's southern beaches such as Colombo, Negombo, Arugam Bay, Weligama, Unawatuna, Galle, and Hikkaduwa.

A great range of luxury hotels are set along the north coast of Grace Bay and just a few km from the huge kitesurf lagoon of long beach. The main kitesurfing spot in Paracas is Santo Domingo Bay where you will find great safe learning conditions. When to go: It's possible to kitesurf here all year but May to October is best, when the wind blows 13-24 knots.

It is very important that before deciding the spot that you want to travel to, you should take into account the wind seasons (winter and summer). A fishing village turned international watersports hub with luxury hotels, Cabarete is the kitesurf capital of the Dominican Republic.

Also known as Ranga's Beach Hut, this spot is excellently located right on the beach. When you're not enjoying winds of Kanaha Beach by day, you can enjoy the lush interior, incredible sunsets, parties in Luaus and laidback Maui vibe. Vela island and Mannar are the perfect spots for improving your freestyle tricks, the wind is steady and the water is perfectly flat.
